Help in bits and pieces, or help with a plan

The difference is not in the list of services but in how it is organised.

Help in bits and pieces

  • Everything explained again every time
  • Help is only tasks: come in, do it, leave
  • The family coordinates doctors, shopping and calls alone
  • You only hear how things are when something goes wrong

Help with a plan

  • The helper knows the tasks, habits and wishes in advance
  • Time to talk and walk, not only to get things done
  • Visits on the schedule you chose
  • A short message to the family after every visit

Four things we do well

Not everything at once, just the things that usually go missing between family visits.

Company and walks

Someone to talk to and to get out of the house with. Loneliness wears health down faster than many diagnoses.

  • Conversation, memories, tea together
  • A walk and fresh air on every visit
  • Board games, crosswords, reading aloud
  • Outings to a concert, church or the cemetery

Help around the home

The ordinary tasks that have become too much, but are no reason to leave your own flat.

  • Cooking and meals eaten together
  • Order in the kitchen and room, laundry
  • Phone, TV and other gadgets
  • Bills, letters, applications

Accompaniment and errands

For when going alone is hard or frightening. We take them there, wait, help make sense of what the doctor said, and bring them home.

  • Trips to the doctor and for tests
  • Shopping, pharmacy, post office, bank
  • Help at institutions and with paperwork
  • Phone appointments made on their behalf

Staying in touch with family

When you live far away but want to know everything is fine. We keep the conversation going and the family in the loop.

  • A short report after every visit
  • Video calls with children and grandchildren
  • Reminders about birthdays and holidays
  • One coordinator you can always call

What a usual visit looks like

Two hours on a Tuesday morning. Every visit is different, but the rhythm is roughly this.

  1. 10:00

    Tea and news

The helper arrives, asks how the night was, and together you plan the morning.

  2. 10:20

    A walk

To the park or along the canal, at your own pace. In bad weather, a game or a book.

  3. 11:00

    Pharmacy and shop

From a list, together or the helper goes alone. The receipt stays at home.

  4. 11:30

    Lunch together

Heat up or cook something simple and eat at the same table.

  5. 12:00

    A note to the family

A few lines: what you did, the mood, when the next visit is.

How it works

From the first call to the first visit usually takes a week.

  1. A free online meeting

We work out what exactly is missing, how often and at what times. Nothing to sign, nothing to pay.

  2. Meeting your helper

We match on character and interests, not only on the calendar. You meet and decide for yourselves.

  3. Regular visits

Your helper comes at the agreed time. After every visit the family gets a short note on how it went.

Why you can rely on us

The hands of an older and a younger person on a table

Tasks agreed in advance

Before the visit the helper knows what needs doing and what matters to your relative.

Meet before you commit

You meet first, then decide. If the person isn’t right, we offer another.

Vetted helpers

Interview, references and a criminal record certificate before the first visit.

Reports to the family

A short message after every visit, even if you live in another country.

No long commitments

Start with a single visit. Pause or change the frequency whenever you need.

Latvian and Russian

We also match helpers by the language your parent is comfortable speaking.

How are you different from municipal home care?

Municipal care covers basic needs and is granted after an assessment. We work on what there is no time for there: walks, conversation, accompaniment, outings. You choose the hours and the tasks. Many clients use both at once.

Do you perform medical procedures?

No. Injections, dressings, administering medication and anything requiring a medical qualification are not our service. We remind about prescribed medication, accompany to specialists and report changes to the family.

How quickly can we start?

Usually within a week. The free online meeting happens within a few days, then you meet the helper, and the first visit follows.

How do you vet your helpers?

An interview, references from previous employers and a criminal record certificate. A coordinator accompanies the helper on the first visit.

Let’s start with a conversation

Leave your details and we will call back the same or the next working day. The conversation is free and commits you to nothing.
